Poem: Envy by Giovanna Napoleone

Published in Creative Communications Fall Anthology

"Hearts are stored forever in the moon..."

Envy by Giovanna Napoleone

The lonely moon stares at his child beneath him

because she is crying to the heavens,

heart heavy,

eyes hazy.

Love is such a silly luminescence

he thinks bright,

slippery,

a memory.

Anything made just for you.

From your midnight lover,

stop that weeping into the sky

a waste of time -

Go find something worth your while

sunshine,

bravery,

futile.

Hearts are stored forever in the moon,

so leave it here with me, let the stars bring it up up up.

Leave it all behind so that it can be mine, mine, mine.
